DIY Chalkboard Bunting

Sometimes I wish I lived in a house full of girls.  Then I could leave this adorable bunting up all year long and not just during the month of February where I can justify having hearts and oodles of pink and sparkly decorations!

{Pictures taken with my phone!
I know…not blog worthy, but I just love the ease of it all!}

I created this bunting specifically with my chalkboard in mind.  Have I told you how much I luuuve my chalkboard?  I’m going to have to share my tutorial on that soon!  Don’t mind the egg shaped oval!  It took me too long to free hand that design and when I looked at it from a distance (when I was all done) I wasn’t about to go and attempt to fix it!  But it’s still dang cute! I found my graphic inspiration HERE

Back to this bunting…I love how simple and easy it was.  I picked up some heart shaped doilies last year from Target’s $ Spot and held on to them until I knew exactly what I wanted to use them for.

This was a custom size so I’ll just give you basics of what you need to do when creating your own.

Here’s what you’ll need…
Multiple papers in different patterns and colors
Heart shaped doilies
Clear liquid adhesive
Ribbon
Thread
Sewing Machine

Here’s what to do…
1.  Cut pattern paper into 4×5 rectangles, cutting a slight dove tail into one end.
2.  Using a small amount of adhesive, glue one doilie to the center of the pattern paper.
3.  Measure the the length of where you want to hang your banner and add about 10-12 more inches to that number to cut your ribbon
4.  With a straight stitch, starting about 5 inches into your ribbon, sew each of your papers (leaving about 1/4 of an inch between each one) onto your ribbon.  Your ribbon should be on the back side of each rectangle.

I loved it so much that I created a second one for my front entryway that I originally shared with you HERE.
