Fourth of July Desserts
Do you make festive holiday desserts?
July 4th is a fun day to bring out all the red, white and blue ingredients, and recipes!
Every year I say I’m going to make a fun holiday dessert for Independence Day and every year I fall short. I either get too busy or I wait too long and don’t have the time to whip something festive up.
I was determined to not miss out this year and came up with the best Patriotic Fruit Pizza!
To be honest, I was craving regular fruit pizza after I saw Pinch of Yum‘s version of it.
Fruit Pizza Crust
The best fruit pizzas always start with a sugar cookie crust. Most recipes call for the premade dough from your dairy section at the grocery store.
It’s totally fine when you are in a pinch.
I’m a huge fan of homemade and with this recipe, you can even feed a crowd with no rolling out, no chilling or no cutting out shapes.
This sugar cookie crust is baked in about 15 minutes! So super quick and I love that it’s baked in cookie sheet.
Fruit Pizza With Cream Cheese
Typically, fruit pizza have a sweetened cream cheese frosting spread between the sugar cookie crust and the fruit placed on top.
This recipe does not include cream cheese. However, it does include sour cream.
If that sounds unusual you to to include that in a frosting, I couldn’t agree with you more. It wasn’t until a few years ago when I first discovered this recipe that I became hooked to the slight tanginess along with the sweetness of the powdered sugar.
But believe me.
It’s divine.
And then don’t forget about the fruit. You really can use pretty much anything.
For this holiday version I used fresh strawberries and fresh blueberries. I sliced each strawberry into 3 slices.
There are the three proponents to this amazing recipe! Keep scrolling to see how I put it all together.
