My oldest son just started high school and high school boys are SO FUN!!! They are fun when they are younger too!!

Walmart has these foam balls hidden by the bikes that are SUPER soft!! Not even like need soft…even softer. They are the best for indoors! You have to use a lot of energy to throw them very far and they can't hurt you no matter how hard you throw them!!

I just love this post! I feel like we could totally hang out and compare mom notes. It took us 7 years to have our twins, and when I found out they were BOTH boys I was shocked! I always saw myself having a daughter. I like crafts and glitter and QUIET and had no idea what to expect from boys. I have gone through the (tough) process of learning some of these same things you mention, like letting things go and letting them be "boys", giving them plenty of space to run (both physically and metaphorically), and learning to just accept that awful pee smell. Haha! Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's so nice to know there are other boy mamas out there who understand.

Wait. So this isn't THE recipe? This is the recipe you are sharing instead of sharing THE recipe you were talking about? That's hilarious. I just have to say. ..I will never understand top secret recipes. Food is love, and recipes are meant to be shared. I know that women defined themselves by their cooking skills back in the day, and so felt like their worth was wrapped up in each recipe card…. but this is 2015! When my great grandmother died refusing to divulge her treasured recipes and all those special things were lost, I decided that every special, wonderful recipe I had would be shared with anyone who asks. Including my famous sugar cookie and glaze recipe that I use to bake cookies I sell.

Almost done making one with my 6 year old son for his mom for Christmas. He did good tracing his hands, but I could tell he was getting a little bored after the 10th one, lol. Cutting them out was up to me and that seems to be the extent of the work involved. I will let him finish it up with help gluing the hands. Can't wait for him to give it to mom in a couple weeks for Christmas 2015. Thanks for a great idea!

I like to use Ghiradelli Melting Chocolate. You can find it on the chocolate chip isle. It’s usually on the top shelf.

      Hi Patsy,
I use fresh dill when I can, but I always have dry on hand. You can certainly use dry, but you won’t need as much.

Delicious. I’ll just have to be a little more careful next time to make sure it’s done. They came out pretty raw, but I didn’t notice until I ate them. Still delicious. I used a can of vanilla frosting because I didn’t want to make it.

Great variation on a theme. I used carrots as the toes and they dried out a bit in the oven looking kind of gnarled. Plus you can have a lot of variations with the shapes. Cool effect.

I am sorry to have to ask, but I am not clear on one step. Does the turkey stay on the roasting rack (that you put it on the night before) while roasting it the next day or do you remove the turkey from the rack when you place the carrots and celery under it? I cannot tell from your beautiful photos if the rack remains during the whole process.

    • Amy Williams mynameissnickerdoodle.com
      November 17, 2020 at 10:49 pm

So sorry that was unclear. I slide the rack out and tuck under the vegetables. You can leave the rack in if you like, but once it’s been baking, it just makes it harder to wash later. And I’m all for easy clean up!

    • Amy Williams mynameissnickerdoodle.com

I just updated it. I mean something like Nutella.

  • Lisa Lepera
    November 17, 2020 at 9:56 am

What type of chocolate spread do you use? Do you make it?

    • Amy Williams mynameissnickerdoodle.com
      November 17, 2020 at 10:51 pm

No, it’s Nutella or I know Hershey’s has a chocolate spread. They are usually in the same grocery isle as the peanut butter.

  • Gina
    November 17, 2020 at 11:44 am

What is chocolate spread? Like Nutella?

    • Amy Williams mynameissnickerdoodle.com

      Yes, like Nutella!

  • Julie
    November 17, 2020 at 2:52 pm

I am sorry to bother you with a question, but do you actually roast the turkey on the rack you placed it on the night before or do you just roast it sitting on the carrots and celery? Also, I cannot find the roasting time chart to which you refer. Thank you so much for your help!
