Are you more of a

store bought costume fan or do you get a thrill from creating it yourself?

This is strictly only my opinion and I’ll be honest.
I don’t always live up to my own requirements every year.

But on the years that I do, those are my favorite.

*Not all three are required at once.

1. Homemade. I know they sometimes get a bad wrap, but I find immense joy in a weird way in torturing myself in trying to make my kids requested costume come to life! I thrive on the smallest details and love how happy it makes them when they wear it.

2. Themes. I LOVE a good theme. And one step above that is a little deep cut theme. One that makes people think a bit. We’ve only matched as a family a few times, but it’s always been a blast pulling it all together. These can definitely be purchased or created. But if you’re going to do it, you better go ALL IN!

3. Inflatable costumes. I simply find them irresistible!

Am I the only mom in the world who sometimes

struggles with having their kids in the kitchen with them?

It’s actually way better now they are older, but when they were little, it was more stress than I care to admit.

Did I want them to explore and be creative alongside me?

Yes!

Was the kitchen sometimes the only little escape that I got from the day-to-day and dinner needed to be on the table 30 minutes ago?

Also yes.

I used to struggle extra during the holiday season because I had the expectation of creating these magical moments.

If you feel that upcoming stress with the holidays pressing upon us, just know that it is OK.

Let your kids make the mess along with the memories.

And also know that it is perfectly OK to kindly kick everybody out if you need you time!

And guess what?

I’ve made it for my kids every Halloween for the past 17 years.

But my boys actually like it.

It is a very simple recipe and I keep it that way because it’s the way that my mom made it.

My husband calls it a good foundation recipe because it has a really good base and everyone can add in all of the toppings they like.

I’m dying to know what the recipe is you didn’t like as a kid but now can appreciate as an adult?

Some of the ladies even said

this was going to be there new Halloween tradtion instead of the standard chili that they have been making for years.

What I love most about this recipe is it’s only about six ingredients and it’s perfect all of pumpkin season.

It’s not your typical hamburger soup mixture that a lot of people make. This is all of the tastes of fall in the best way.

Yes, it would be perfect Halloween night, but also a delectable side for Thanksgiving or just straight up dinner in a crisp Tuesday night.

Please don’t hate me for what I say at the end.

I am regretting a little that I didn’t show you the inside of that Peanut Butter Square, but I pinky promise you it was the best treat I had at Disneyland!

And as for DCA, you’ve got to get the Choco Smash Candy Bar. Definitely share it with a few people, but it is divine.

The last time I was at Disneyland was

25 years ago.

You better believe when I planned this three day trip I was going to try to fit it all in.

And yet I only scratched the surface.

I’m only pretending to be a Disney influencer, but make sure you save this video if you are going anytime in the future.

When I knew I was going, I found videos just like this super helpful in planning exactly what food I wanted to try so I can make the most of my trip.

Yes.
Yes. I did.

but seriously, they make some cute candy that needs to be on display.

So whether it’s Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Valentine’s Day, candy is an easy go to decoration. Just pull the color ways you want and go for it!

What would be a candy too dangerous to put out?
For me it would have to be Reese’s PB Pumpkins!

Looking back on it, I think it was then

I first discovered food can connect you to people.

Being a recipe and food blogger sometimes I feel like I am just providing fluff content.

Everyone needs to eat, but food can be so mundane most days.

Then I am quickly reminded about the stories you share with me when you have created my recipes and made memories with your family and friends.

Make the recipes.
Gather your people.
Eat the food.
