Wedge Salad

A Wedge Salad is created using the most crisp and fresh ingredients. Quartered Iceburg Lettuce served on a cold plate is the way to start. Crisp, crumbled bacon from thick strips and sliced cherry tomatoes sprinkled over the top. The classic version is drizzled with blue cheese dressing, but I prefer mine with Ranch dressing.

This can certainly be served on it’s own, but could easily be served along side Grilled Lemon Chicken or even my Honey Garlic Chicken. You can even pair it with an easy Artisan Bread made from scratch. If you choose to go that route then you must make my Raspberry Butter smother it in!

Ranch Dressing or Bleu Cheese

I recently saw a foodie video that follows trends (yes, they’re are food trends!) and this person said Wedge Salads are making a comeback. I prefer mine with Homemade Ranch Dressing, but they are classically served with a Blue Cheese Dressing of some sort. Either way, as long as all of the ingredients are crisp and fresh, a wedge salad is always satisfying!

Wedge Salad

There are some things that are worth a little work. This Wedge Salad is one of them. The prep is practically nothing, but when you need a knife to eat something, it doe need a bit of effort to consume. This is such a crisp and satisfying salad you’ll want to serve it all the time.

How To Make A Wedge Salad

  • Remove the outer layers of a head of iceburg lettuce. 1-3 leafs should be fine.
  • Trim off most of the bottom of the core then cut the head into quarters. If it is a large head you can always cut those quarters in half.
  • Place onto a plate, cover with plastic wrap and chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
  • Cut cherry tomatoes in quarters and set aside.
  • Cut 8 slices of thick cut bacon into 6 pieces each.
  • Fry bacon until crisp, drain on a paper towel and set aside.
  • Set each lettuce quarter onto a plate.
  • Sprinkle with tomatoes and bacon.
  • Drizzle with Ranch Dressing.
